Maupuy climbing spot

Maupuy is a summit of the Massif Central located in the town of Saint-Léger-le-Guérétois. With a granite height of 686M, it is a raised boulder between faults whose steep slope dominates Guéret.

General presentation of the Spot

The cliff, a former “Marceau” quarry, is in the form of an amphitheater on 2 levels facing east to west with complete modern re-equipment on spindles. Straps essential for relays.

The cliffs of Maupuy are broken down into 3 climbing sectors:

– The “Mouche” sector
– The “Mosquito” sector
– The “Grillon” sector

Access and parking:

From the national road 145 take the “Guéret center” exit then direction “Courtille leisure center”, at the roundabout (next to the lake) follow the signs “site du Maupuy”.

Go up to the top and follow the signs “climbing site” then “Le GP Club” (disco) and park on the ground on the right, go to the bottom.

Access is from the bottom of the granite quarry.

Equipments:

– Number of quickdraws: 10 maximum
– Provide a single rope of at least 40 meters or a double rope of 2×30 meters.
