Verger climbing spot

The Gorges du Verger is the first classified site in Limousin (in 1912) for its picturesque character.

General presentation of the Spot

The evocatively shaped rocky cliffs and the remains of the picturesque 19th century park of the Domaine du Verger, owned by Emile de Girardin, are the cornerstones of the site. It is a group of rocks that plunge directly into the waters of the dam on the Creuse. A large set of gateways leads from one end to the other.

The blocks of the Orchard are broken down into 2 climbing sectors:

– The “Dalle et surplomp” sector
– The “Initiation” sector

Access and parking:

In Bourganeuf at the roundabout take the direction of Clermont-Ferrand, then take the first road on the right and park in the car park. From the car park, continue on foot in the direction of the Gorges du vergers for about 800 meters. At the wooden bridge you have reached the climbing site.

Access is either from the city or by the GR4; the intercommunal hiking trail from Bourganeuf to Royère de Vassivière.
