The Pond of the Landes Nature Reserve

This 100-hectare national nature reserve is home to more than 400 plant and 600 animal species. Its shallow depth and sandy bottom encourage the development of extremely rare natural environments. The main owner and manager of the site, the Creuse Departmental Council, with the scientific support of the Limousin Conservatory of Natural Spaces, is responsible for its ecological management. Marked trails allow you to observe the animals without disturbing them. Free activities are organized from April to November to discover the history of the place and the species that inhabit it.

The site of the Jaumâtres Stones

The sacrificial altar, the stones of the God of Thunder and the God of War, The Scale, The Sugar Loaves…. The Jaumâtre Stones are a place of legends. At the top of Mont Barlot, about forty huge granite blocks emerge and rise in an improbable balance. A place of sacrifice? Great altar of the druids? Mother Goddesses Tables or Cradle of the Devil? The uncertainty remains… Still, the site was a popular place for George Sand and Chopin to walk around.
