It was in this wood, near the communes of Sardent and Maisonnisses, that on September 7, 1943, seven young maquisards fell to German bullets. A walk through the woods between the granite chaos evokes the creation of this maquis by young Creusois and its brutal and violent end, which made it a symbol.
