Dating from the late 19th century, this fountain, topped by a granite cross, feeds the washhouse below. Inhabitants of the village of La Verrière used to come here to draw their water and water their animals. At the washhouse, the women washed the family laundry.
Legend has it that young married women came to drink its water to become pregnant. Some mothers-in-law, in a hurry to see small children brighten up the house, found a thousand tricks to lure their daughters-in-law
