Porte du Puy Charraud à La Souterraine

This gate remains from the enlarged XV century wall. It is made up of a large rectangular block: the lower part is made of bonded stone. Above, irregular quarry stones have been used for renovations. At one side of the town, a porte d'escalier is decorated with an arch lintel sculpted with a coat of arms. This gate is not open to the public but it is in the the old town and is worth a visit.
