Memory, refuge, resistance

The Memory, Refuge and Resistance Section

The Espace Mémoire, Refuge, Résistances (Memory, Refuge, Resistance) at the Archives départementales de la Creuse offers a sensitive and well-documented look at the period 1939-1945, through the eyes of three fictional characters: Denise, a young woman from the Creuse; Ernest, a Jewish refugee; and Jacques, a committed Resistance fighter, embodying the themes of commitment, exile and the Resistance.

The work of the Association des Amis du Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation (Friends of the Museum of the Resistance and Deportation), supported by the Creuse département, combines personal accounts and historical archives to bring to life the local memory of the Second World War.
