No Kill course

Keen to reconcile the preservation of fish stocks with the development of fishing activities, the Federation, in partnership with local AAPPMAs, has set up a network of No-Kill courses, also known as “graciation courses”.

In the Monts de Guéret, you can find one of these courses: the No-Kill course “La Gartempe”. Located in the communes of La Chapelle-Taillefert and Saint-Victor-en-Marche, it extends over 1.5 km.

Its boundaries are defined by two landmarks: downstream, the Rebeyrolle d’en bas bridge, and upstream, the La Chapelle-Taillefert campsite bridge (Le Gué Lavaud).

Rules and regulations

    • Specific regulations apply on this course:
    • No-kill fishing with compulsory release of fish (except undesirable species)
    • Use of live or dead fish is prohibited
    • Fishing without barbs or with crushed barbs
    • Fishing baskets forbidden on the courses
    • Use of landing nets recommended

For easier identification, the no-kill routes are marked out from bridge to bridge. Signs on site mark these boundaries and provide information on the specific regulations governing the routes.
