Intended to transmit the traditional religious, philosophical and social thought of our ancestors down the centuries, the church at Bénévent l?Abbaye is a remarkable book of stone, and was fortunate enough to have been built by mason monks, Compagnons de taille de pierres, Charpentiers or initiated masons, who possessed not only a remarkable technique, but also an architectural philosophy - which explains the importance of symbolism ? and of the Golden Number ? in this major pilgrimage site.
