JARDIN - Château d'Arfeuille

A free tour of the exterior and grounds of Château d'Arfeuille, which has belonged to the d'Arfeuille family since time immemorial and continues to this day.
In the 12th century, a castle, since destroyed, already existed on this site. The keep and central part of the château date from the 15th century, while the wing dates from the 18th century.
In the 18th century, Yves and Mayeule d?Arfeuille wanted to transform this defensive château into a château d?agrément, so they redesigned the garden, filled in the dry ditches and created a terrace at the rear.
A row of lime trees was planted and a "garenne" created, comprising six fan-shaped avenues of deciduous trees, which were completely destroyed by the storm of 1999. Since then, 10,000 trees have been replanted, inviting you to discover this rural setting ...
