Sometimes there are two "planks" side by side. The stone needed was suitable. This is the 2-mica granite from the Millevaches region, known in our commune as "Compeix stone".
    They were laid for pedestrians, as they are generally too narrow for a cart. For these, there was always a ford nearby. These "planks" of stone weigh around 2 tonnes, and sometimes more.
