The 10h non-stop of Vassivière

July 4, 2020

Saturday, July 4 will be the first national Paddle sports event of this early season:a national Paddle event unique in France with elites expected all weekend at Lake Vassivière.

One date, two events, one discipline: the PADDLE

While one event after another is cancelled, the Paddle Vassivière Club has put all its energy into maintaining its unique paddle endurance event in France. Participants and sup equipment manufacturers are therefore rushing to meet around Lake Vassivière onSaturday, July 4 around the first sporting event of the season in Vassivière but also on the hexagon. The organizers, originally a modest regional event, find themselves at the head of a very promising national event!
The PVC (Paddle Vassivière Club) created in 2018 makes every effort to evolve and discover the Stand Up Paddle on Lake Vassivière which, thanks to its jagged banks offers an exceptional setting, lending itself particularly well to this discipline, and this all year round. To be recognized and register the event on the national calendar, the association is affiliated with the French Surfing Federation (on which the paddle depends).

The elite paddle expected at Lake Vassivière

The very young association launched in 2019 a unique event in France: an endurance open to all, young (from 15 years) or not so young, whatever his level, licensed or not. The goal is to ride solo or in teams of 2 to 4, the maximum number of laps of a loop during 10 hours or 4 hours depending on the event chosen. The PVC is now a victim of its success, with an event that has conquered in 2019 competitors enchanted by the site and the friendly organization, and in 2020, taken over by international paddle elites: Stéphane LEBLOND (24-hour world recordman), Fanny TESSIER (World Champion with the French team), Olivier DARRIEUMERLOU, Leandro CRUZ (Brazil), Christian MOUTSAKOS (Austria), the BOULARDOT triplets (French canoeing champions in line) ….

The club is active and is putting in the work to perfect the organization and offer competitors an event worthy of the name.

Saturday, July 4 up to of 100 teams will start at 10 am on Lake Vassivière, starting from the peninsula of Broussas, for a relentless paddle endurance of ten hours non-stop on a loop of about 6000 meters to be done as many times as necessary. The event is open to anyone over 13 years old, regardless of their level (beginner or advanced), the number of board(s) allowed per team is not limited but they must, however, all be of the same category: rigid or inflatable, and the size of these is free.

The “4 hours non-stop Challenge” allows to open the competition to the largest number of people on a “lighter” course or the participants will be able to run in “competitor” mode or in leisure mode for a good laugh. An exhibitors’ village installed on the beach of Broussas, will allow equipment manufacturers to present and especially to try the latest models of sup.
