Prior to 1842, the hamlet of Blavepeyre (from the Occitan ?blau? and ?peyre? meaning ?bleu? and ?pierre?) was a commune in its own right. It was later merged with Bussière-Nouvelle. Blavepeyre was a dependency of the Commanderie Sainte-Anne d?Eymoutiers, part of the Order of Malta. The church was attached to this Commandery. The rectangular nave is topped by a bell tower.
