Monts de Guéret
In the heart of the Creuse, the Monts de Guéret offers a structured tourism that is both entertaining and athletic. A novel destination to make the most of quality infrastructures with peace of mind: there aren’t many like this around…
Tourist sites for all the family
The Monts de Guéret Animal Park, the Labyrinth, Accrobranche (rope park), the Sénatorerie Museum are amongst the 4 most visited sites in the Creuse. Together they offer a range of open-air activities or… for when it rains.
The Animal Park, often called the "Wolf Park" is not to be missed. The allure of these animals is very real and acts on both children and adults. Our advice: don't miss the feeding times and the periods of the year (June) when the little wolf cubs quit the den.
The Labyrinth is an opportunity for a family outing guided by general knowledge questions. Once you've left the maze’s hedges, you can try your hand at numerous, more or less, traditional games… Fun guaranteed. Or if you're more athletic, a rope park adjoins the labyrinth.
The Sénatorerie Museum gathers together Dutch, Flemish and French painters (certain of which are from the Impressionist Painters’ Valley), Celtic and Gallo-Roman archaeological collections. A room is dedicated to the Asian arts. To note, the natural history cabinet allows you to see hundreds of stuffed animals.
Open-air sport that will take your breath away !
The Monts de Guéret offers the possibility of taking part in activities linked to three elements: water, earth, air.
Some examples… Water with swimming at Courtille, but also sailing, canoeing on the Creuse River at Glénic, stand-up paddle surfing and sailing (introduction), fishing. Air and hang gliding, climbing with several spots in the countryside carrying the FFE (French Climbing Federation) label. Earth with the MTB centre carrying the FFC (French Cycling Federation) label, hiking or trail bike paths. The outdoor-sports school offers packages for groups (all year round) and individuals. Qualified monitors are available to help you discover disciplines such as MTB, orientation, fishing etc. The school also has equipment you can rent (mountain bikes for example).
The advantage of the Monts de Guéret outdoor-sports school is also in its range of activities for all ages and its proximity to leisure areas. It's not unusual to see a little rascal try out archery with a State-qualified monitor while the parents are lounging on Courtille beach or mum is off on a little walk/introduction to Nordic walking in the nearby Maupuy. The Monts de Guéret outdoor-sports school also offers clubs "all in one", personalised courses – so give them a call !
